Sneak Peek of the Clay Hill gardens on tour
2021 Historic Garden Week

We are fortunate to live in the Shenandoah Valley in an area replete with colorful and vibrant trees, flowers and shrubs and nestled in the beauty of the nearby mountains.  Our history is rich and our land is testimony to the resilience and pride of our communities.  We host the State Arboretum, historic homes, critical waterways and natural wetlands with native plants known only to this area. The Winchester-Clarke Garden Club avidly supports state conservation efforts and its members work diligently to beautify our communities through private as well as public gardens and common areas.
Tired of waiting for spring blooms?  Try forcing them indoors.  Just a few easy steps.
  1. Prune non-essential branches with a pair of clean, sharp pruners....
  2. Set the branches in a vase of room temperature water overnight....
  3. Place the vase in a cool, bright room away from direct sun....
  4. Recut the ends using a slanting cut the next day....
  5. Change the water every few days!

How to Keep Live Garlands Fresh
  1. Store them in a cool area until you are ready to use.
  2. Use an anti-desiccant spray to help seal in moisture.
  3. Spritz the garland with water every few days.
  4. If possible, keep them out of sunlight and away from heat vents.
